There are two airports that you can fly into – Florence Peretola Airport (FLR) which is the closest; or Pisa Airport (PSA) which is about an hour (either driving or regular train service) to Florence.
For the Aussies, you can also fly into Rome Airport as there are more international flights available here. From Rome there are express ‘Frecciarossa’ trains that run from Roma Tutte Le Stazioni to Firenze Tutte Le Stazioni, taking only 1.5 hours. Prices are only 17 Euros but can only be booked 3 months in advance.
Depending on where you choose to stay, you can easily get around on foot – especially if you stay in the old town as there are a lot of small laneways and streets shared with pedestrians. Otherwise cabs are also readily available and pretty cheap to get around with.
The Villa is located about a 10min drive from the centre of Florence. There is limited parking on site, so please let us know if you intend to drive to the wedding.
The best way to get to the venue is by taxi, but there is also a bus stop (#2001, Long Fields) at the bottom of the street. Note: it’s down a steep hill, so if you choose to take it to the venue, you’ll need to walk up it!.
Bus route 36 will take you to this stop, and is about 20/25mins from the centre of Florence.
